The Biography of Adèle

Adele Laurie Blue Adkins , born May 5, 1988 in the London Borough of Tottenham , is an English singer-songwriter.

Adele was born in London’s Tottenham neighborhood in North London to an English mother, Penny Adkins, both a masseuse and furniture maker, and a Welsh father, Marc Evans, a plumber. Marc Evans, a big fan of blues, wants to give him the first name Blue in reference to this music but the pair finally agrees on Adele Laurie Blue Adkins. She is 3 years old when her father leaves home to return to Cardiff. His mother who raises her alone then moves several times. She left Tottenham in 1997, left for Brighton (epicenter of London reggae culture) and then returned to the suburbs of London in 1999 (Brixton, then West Norwood, districts of Lambeth District). She sings at the age of four and says she was obsessed with voices . She cites the Spice Girls as a major influence on her love and passion for music and mentions that they have made her what she is today. She imitates them elsewhere at parties. She is also very fond of British singer Gabrielle, whose songs she begins with. To make it look like the latter, Penny Adkins who forms a fusion duo with his daughter, makes him an eye patch with straw, which, according to Adele, made him rather ashamed. Adele later said she was influenced by the music of Spice Girls, Jeff Buckley, The Cure and artists like Billy Bragg, Etta James and Peggy Lee during her teenage years, as she discovered the records of artists in a local HMV store. She also claims to be a big fan of Beyoncé Knowles since the age of eleven: Adele would like to collaborate with Beyonce Knowles. At sixteen, Adele wrote her first song, Hometown Glory, which appeared in her 19 album.

In 2008, she released her first album “19” (the title of her album) which sells more than 7 million copies. She is the first to receive the Critics ‘Choice Award (Critics’ Choice) from the BRIT Awards, distinguished “Discovery of the Year 2008” in a vote of the BBC Music Critics, Sound of 2009. In 2009, Adele wins two awards of the 51st edition of the Grammy Awards, that of the best new artist and that of the best female pop performance. The British press, as Duffy and other rising artists of 2007-2008, «New Amy’s», or the «New Amy Winehouse» presents it.

 

In 2011, she released her second album titled “21” which sells more than 31 million copies including 1.85 million in France. The album was the most sold album in the world in 2011 and 2012, it ranks 6th in the ranking of the greatest albums of all time of the category Women who rock by the Rolling Stone Magazine and becomes the best-selling album to the world of this decade. She won six Grammy Awards at the 54th Grammy Awards, becoming the second woman, after Beyoncé, to accomplish such a feat. In 2012, she sang the song of the movie Skyfall with which she won for the best original song, a Golden Globe and an Oscar. In February 2013, she won the Grammy Award for Best Solo Pop Performance for “Set Fire to the Rain”.

 

Adele’s third album, 25, has sold more than 20 million copies worldwide, and the album ranks at the top of record sales in many countries. Adele is the most sold artist in the world in 2015. In February 2017, Adele is the Grammy Award winner, winning 5 Grammys out of 5 for Album of the Year, Song of the Year, record of the year, best pop solo performance and best vocal pop album. His album is certified diamond disc in November 2016 in the United States with 10 million copies sold.

 

With more than 100 million records sold worldwide, Adele is one of the biggest record sellers in the world in 2018. Adele has received 147 awards out of 301 nominations over her career. His singles “Rolling in the Deep” and “Hello” have reached the billions of views on YouTube. Adele holds eleven recordings in the Guinness World Records. Adele has been named 18 times in the Grammy Awards and has won 15 trophies throughout her career.

 

In 2016, IFPI (the International Federation of Phonographic Industry) named Adele the world’s most popular musical artist of the year 2015. In 2016, it is one of the UK’s richest celebrities. In 2017, without releasing an album or single, Adele has won more than 10 million euros: she becomes the second best paid singer in 2017.
