What are the 10 most dangerous countries in the world for women?

It is India that gets this sad first place. A ranking that still counts a western country: the United States.

What do Syria, Yemen, Somalia and the United States have in common? In addition to the ban on traveling in the latter, they are among the 10 most dangerous countries in the world for women. A sad list! This is a survey of the Thomson Reuter Foundation that listed them, to know, among the 193 member states of the United Nations, they were the most dangerous for women and the worst for health care, economic resources, traditional practices, sexual abuse and trafficking in human beings. So what is it?

1. India  🇮🇳 :
India has been ranked as the most dangerous country in the world for women. Sexual violence and harassment, human trafficking, forced labor, sexual slavery, domestic servitude are still commonplace.

This year, the country has also been at the forefront of attacks on cultural traditions, including acid abuse, female genital mutilation and child marriage.

2. Afghanistan  🇦🇫 :
Afghanistan has the worst health care in the world for women. It is also the worst for non-sexual violence. Not glorious!

3. Syria  🇸🇾 :
It’s not really a surprise! After seven years of civil war, the country is affected by strong violence whether it is sexual (this includes rape as a weapon of war), conflict-related or domestic.

4. Somalia  🇸🇴 :
Access to health care for women is difficult as well as economic resources. Sexual violence is present as well as stoning, child marriage and acid attacks.

5. Saudi Arabia 🇸🇦 :
In the country, sexual violence is low. But the discrimination is very strong. Women’s human rights are limited: discrimination in employment, ability to earn a living and lack of access to education. But let us rejoice, they can now drive!

6. Pakistan 🇵🇰  :
Discrimination and cultural traditions that include women’s inability to earn a living, physical abuse and malnutrition as a form of punishment. Honor killings are still relevant today.

7. Democratic Republic of Congo  🇨🇬
In terms of sexual violence, the country is right behind India. This includes rape as a weapon of war, lack of access to justice and coercion in sex as a form of corruption.

8. Yemen  🇾🇪 :
It is one of the poorest countries in the Arab world, still undergoing a humanitarian crisis, the most urgent in the world, with 22 million people in need of life-saving assistance. Access to care and economic resources is complicated and non-sexual violence is common.

9. Nigeria  🇳🇪 :
It is the fourth worst in terms of human trafficking: domestic servitude, forced labor and sexual slavery. The military is accused by human rights groups of torture, rape and killings of civilians.

10.United States  🇺🇸 :
Surprise! This is the only Western country ranking and not least! The country has the third worst record in terms of sexual violence. Indeed, with #MeeToo and Time’s Up sexual harassment and violence has been brought to light as well as lack of access to justice in these cases.

The country has also been singled out for non-sexual violence that includes domestic, physical and mental abuse.
